Nige again
Well i still haven't found my password so still using Sarah's login account. It's been a long time since an update as we have been quite busy at the school and travelling to the Maasai Mara for a safari.
On the Sunday before last we spent the morning at Kisima Secondary School again for the morning church service. David Kariuki spoke from John 5:16-30, talking on God's judgement. No matter how much we believe or not, one day we will all be judged, how will we answer this judgement? If we believe in Christ we will be welcomed into heaven, but if we do not believe, we will suffer the punishment of hell.
In the afternoon we travelled up to Sipili to visit David's parents. The small town, about 2 hours drive away, was quite pleasent until we got off the tarmac roads and hit the dirt tracks. Pot-holes covering the whole road and mounds of mud everywhere made the ride a little bumpy, but once arriving i realised it was worth it. David's parents (Boniface and Jane) have their house split into 5 or 6 buildings, the bedrooms, the kitchen, the living room etc. All of this is fenced off to the outside world and is very peaceful. After catching dinner (we chose a chicken from their pen and chased it, caught it and cooked it) we ate dinner in the garden. After having a few photos with the family we headed home and chilled out. Ended up watching 'Tomb Raider' and 'The Bone Collector'.
Monday was a nice change, the sun came out and it was scorching! And to make a change from painting we decided to do some planting. The plan is to build a hedge around the outsides of the boy's and girl's dorms. Among the plants we found some small passion fruit leaves, so we have added them to Catherine's garden :-) In the afternoon the heat had got the better of me, i went home feeling unwell, and watched TV, made pancakes and broke up a fight between the cockeral and the turkey. There was war in the chicken pen!
Tuesday was pretty much the same, we did more planting in the morning and afternoon. In the evening we went to visit a family on the other side of Nyahururu, whom David has known for some time now. They cooked nice chapatis.
Wednesday came and it was time for us to go to Nairobi, stay the night and meet up with Gerald, Dave and Alison, who were flying in from Heathrow. But nothing seemed to go to plan. We did a lot of washing in the morning, then lazed around until the afternoon when we would set out. It was all going well, we set out ok, got half an hour down the road, and the t-belt on the car's engine broke! Tragedy!! David waitind with the vehicle until a mechanic came whilst me, Catherine and Sarah got a matatu back to Nyahururu with all our luggage! The idea was to go to Nairobi early (4 o clock!!!!) we got a matatu and reached the city at around 07:30. But the fun hadn't ended yet, on the night we got back from breaking down, Sarah cut her finger a bit whilst cutting potatoes! Oh no!! She walked over to the sink and almost collapsed in it! So Catherine dragged her to the dining room table and layed her down on some chairs to recover. Was quite eventful. They it was also nice to see Sarah go bright after i dared her to try some Pika Pika chilli sauce :-)
So on Thursday we arose early and set out for Nairobi, we arrived safely and met with the other three. That's all for now, i'm not allowed to say any more as the others are writing up a summary of our safari for you. Ciao for now!
