Ouch! Jabs are just as painful financially as they are physically!

I've just got off the phone from my Medical Centre, prompted by Gerald telling me that he was being quoted £59 for Yellow Fever. My medical centre does it for £40 but don't have any in at the moment (and have been waiting for it for months). They directed me to the following:

They are a registered Yellow Fever Centre and charge £45.
Location: 84-88 Pinner Road, Harrow

If your local doctor that you normally go to can't do Yellow Fever then a clinic like the one above is your only real alternative. Other surgeries will not treat people that aren't registered with them. However be advised you don't want to get your other jabs such as Hep B, Rabies or anything else done here - its more expensive! Get them done at your local surgery as its going to be cheaper.

The other thing is about Hep B and Rabies. I knew both jabs came in courses of 3 but what I didn't realise is that the amount I was quoted was per injection, not for the whole course. Therefore the prices are:
Hep B - £25 x 3 = £75
Rabies - £30 x 3 £90

Note these prices are from my surgery. From a health clinic like the one above, they cost more with Hep B going up to £32 per jab and Rabies to £40 (which seems to be universal across the board). I'm personally reconsidering which jabs to take. But remember Yellow Fever is compulsory for this trip as is Typhoid & Hep A (free on NHS) and making sure your Tetanus is up to date.

If people want to go together to get Yellow Fever jabs then please say. We have to book appointments though - its not a walk in centre. The other alternative is waiting for the medical surgies to get the jabs in stock and then get them for £40, but most don't know when supplies will come in.
